Help Combat Environmental Racism in NYC! Donation-Based Ballet Barre for WE ACT
Hey all! I've seen a few of my friends and colleagues do this (my love Evy Vaughan is my main inspiration), and it is a wonderful way for the dance community to use our skills to contribute to the Black Lives Matter movement.
For the next few weeks, I will be teaching a donation based ballet barre via Instagram Live (@gigihaus). Each week 100% of the proceeds will be given to a different organization that forwards the Black Lives Matter movement (individual donation receipts will be provided).
This week, the donations will be given to WE ACT For Environmental Justice, a non-profit organization based in West Harlem that combats environmental racism. You can read more about WE ACT by visiting their website: https://www.weact.org . I have also included a statement from their website in the third slide of this post. If you want to learn more about environmental racism and why it matters, one of my favorite resources is https://intersectionalenvironmentalist.com. Join me for barre this week on Friday, August 7th at 12PM EST! Suggested donation is $5 to @gigihaus on Venmo (you're welcome to donate even if you don't take the class!). Once you donate, I will reach out to you to ask for your email address, so that your individual donation receipt from WE ACT can be sent to you (for both your records/peace of mind and for WE ACT's donor records and data analysis). Again, 100% of the proceeds will be donated to WE ACT For Environmental Justice.
